The third episode of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) “Edu-Hack: Navigating through a Turbulent Educational Landscape” will be held on 3 June 2020 at 2PM.  This episode is titled “Pedagogical Potential of Immersive Technologies” and will feature three experts on the subject, namely, Mr. Danilo Pasquariello, a Web-VR Expert from the United Kingdom, Assoc. Prof. Eric Hawkinson from the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies in Japan; and UPOU’s very own Asst. Prof. Roberto B. Figueroa, Jr. 

The discussion will include a brief introduction about immersive technologies and how these technologies can be used for basic and higher education. This episode also hopes to delve into the advantages and disadvantages of using such technology and recommendations of the experts in terms of integrating immersive technology in teaching. 

Dr. Alexander G. Flor, Professor and Dean of the UPOU Faculty of Information and Communication Studies and Dr. Melinda dela Pena Bandalaria, Chancellor of UPOU will still serve as co-moderators for the session.

Edu-Hack is UPOU’s effort to discuss how Philippine universities are responding and adapting to disruptions in higher education brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Edu-Hack is also part of the #OPENFight program, UPOU’s banner program for all efforts towards coping and managing resources amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
